Srinagar: Air traffic from Srinagar International Airport was suspended following heavy snowfall and poor visibility.
All the incoming and outgoing flights from the Srinagar airport have been suspended, the Airport official told UNI.
However, he said, if weather improves and there is no more snowfall, decision to resume the air traffic will be taken in the afternoon.
It was heavily snowing for the past one hour, he said, adding that the visibility was also poor.
No flight could take off or land at the airport since morning, he said.
Passengers, who had reached airport from different parts of the Valley, were waiting, though a notice has been issued by the airport authority that there is no chance of operating any flight until weather improves.
Some passengers said they were scheduled to appear for the interview in New Delhi while others said they had appointment with doctors.
In December, the air traffic was suspended for many days due to poor visibility, though the weather was dry.
Traffic on the Srinagar-Jammu national highway, linking the Kashmir Valley with the rest of the country, has already been closed due to heavy snowfall at Qazigund, Jawahar tunnel and Banihal since early this morning.
