Srinagar: A Sessions court has rejected the bail application of a suspended police officer, accused of murdering his wife in 2010 here in Tengapora Batamaloo area of Srinagar city.
Rukhsana Jabeen was found dead at her parental home in Batamaloo on the morning of October 30, 2010 and her family had alleged that she was killed by her husband, Manzoor Ahmad Mir son of Late Ghulam Hassan of Gulbarga Colony Hyderpora.
According to her family, the accused had attacked her several times before killing her. They had appealed for stringent punishment to the accused. Manzoor, a police constable, is under detention at Central Jail Srinagar.
While rejecting the bail plea of the accused, Court of 3rd Additional Sessions Judge observed that the offences punishable under Sections 302 (murder) were of serious nature. Considering this and the specific role attributed to the accused, his application stands rejected, the court said.
I do not find any reason for allowing the application of the accused and releasing him on bail. Consequently, the instant petition is dismissed, the court said.
