Srinagar: After the recent incidents of bank robbery in Valley, Jammu Kashmir Police Friday said that militants operating in Kashmir are falling short of money leading to bank robberies.
Demonetization badly affected the militants operating in Kashmir Valley. They are short of money and are finding way and means to collect it. The bank robbery incidents in Kashmir are purely the fall out of demonetization plan, Special Director General of Police and Incharge Law and Order SP Vaid told news agency CNS.
SP Vaid said that all measures have been taken to stop bank robbery incidents in the future. We are working on a plan. In fact we have clues and have identified the men involved in such incidents, he said.
Pertinently, unidentified gunmen have so far struck thrice and looted cash from the branches of Jammu and Kashmir Bank at Budgam and Pulwama. On 25 November last month unidentified gunmen barged into Jammu and Kashmir bank Malpora and looted 13 lakh rupees. On 8 December this month gunmen barged into JK bank branch Arihal, Pulwama and looted 12 lakhs while barely after a week Ratnipora Pulwama Branch of JK Bank was looted and this time armed gunmen managed to decamp with cash worth 9.86 lakh rupees.
