SRINAGAR: The political class, from both sides of the ideological divide has condemned the twin killings an erstwhile Sarpanch and a fisheries employee describing them as ‘extra-judicial’.
“We are investigating the matter,” Kumar was quoted saying by a news gathering agency on Sajad malik’s killing. “We are also concerned about it.” In case of fisheries department employees killing, he has said they have launched a probe.
Sharply reacting and condemning the cold blooded murder of Asadullah Kumar, Hurriyat (g) said that those claiming the credit of ‘’normalcy’’ should introspect themselves as they are solely responsible for the innocent killings on daily basis.
As per media reports the deceased was on his duty and was not participating in any protest or there was no gun battle in the vicinity. Hurriyat said that beating the drum of “peace and development” by these shameless killers is nothing but a deceptive slogan to regain their lost ground. Hurriyat said using guns for suppression and then clamming “normalcy” is hilarious and misleading.
National Conference on Sunday condemned the detention of its legislators from South Kashmir in Anantnag while they were on their way to Dooru and said this incident had yet again exposed the tyrannical and anti-democratic creed of the current PDP-BJP dispensation.
National Conference Provincial President Nasir Aslam Wani said the detention of party legislators Altaf Ahmed Kaloo, Abdul Majeed Larmi and Dr Bashir Ahmed Veeri indicates the desperation of the Government in trying to hide what has happened in Dooru.
“Detaining legislators and disallowing them from reaching out to the people is extremely tragic and highly condemnable. This has exposed Mehbooba Mufti’s tall claims of allegedly working towards the restoration of normalcy in the State. When legislators are detained and not allowed to visit a specific area to ascertain the truth – all claims of the Chief Minister stand exposed as hollow rhetoric”, the NC Provincial President added.
Congress Rejects Police Probe
Reacting to the probe ordered into the killing of Ex Sarpanch and Fisheries Dept Employee Assaddulah Kumar, Congress today rejected the probe saying that the probe by police department itself will not serve any purpose.
In a statement issued here, Congress reiterated its demand of a time bound probe by sitting high court judge in order to ascertain the reality behind these killings, as the party believes that the probe by a sitting High Court judge can only satisfy the people of Dooru and Devsar.
Commenting on the probe as reported Congress Legislators MLC GN Monga, MLA Mohd Amin Bhat, MLA Gulzar Ahmad Wani while rejecting it said that the probe by the Police will not and cannot satisfy the people of Dooru and Devesar where these innocent killings have taken place.
“They reiterated that the time bound probe into these killing must be ordered by a sitting high court Judge to ascertain the reality behind the incidents of killings, as that the probe by the police department is not going to serve any purpose, so Congress party demands probe by none other than the sitting High Court Judge as the party believes that people have lost faith citing earlier probes conducted by the police Department it. We demand time bound probe by a sitting High Court judge, so that the truth behind comes to fore,” the statement added.
Congress Legislators expressed surprise over the way state government is taking these killings.
“Govt should have ordered probe at an initial stage, but this is unfortunate that coalition government of PDP and BJP seems to be in no hurry to know the facts behind these killings, which is highly condemnable and questionable?”
