Srinagar: A suspected Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) militant was arrested in south Kashmir district of Shopian, official sources said here tonight.
They said following specific information, Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police today launched a search operation at village Chotipora in Immam Saheb in Shopian.
During the search operation, they said one person was found under suspicious circumstance in an orchid in the village.
“As security forces were coming near him, he ran. But, he was chased and apprehended,” they said, adding the detainee has been identified as Bilal Ahmad Sheikh.
Sheikh had joined HM in October 2016, they said, adding two Chinese grenades and some incriminating material were recovered from his possession.
