Srinagar: A former sarpanch was shot dead in south Kashmir district of Anantnag, official sources said here tonight.
However, conflicting reports are emerging over the killing of former sarpanch, Sajad Malik.
According to official sources, Malik was killed by Army after he allegedly tried to snatch a rifle from a Jammu and Kashmir Police personnel in Dooru in Anantnag.
Meanwhile, another report claims that he was killed in an anti-militancy operation by Army in the area.
But, people alleged that Malik was in police custody for his alleged role in ‘pro-freedom’ activities though police has refuted these claims. Malik had dissociated himself from mainstream politics.
