SPO Wounded In Bmulla Firing
SRINAGAR (KNS) – Ruling National Conference member of Legislative Assembly from Batmaloo constituency of Srinagar, Irfan Ahmad Shah, had a narrow escape while his personal security officer was critically injured in firing by suspected militants at the north Kashmir town of Baramulla this afternoon.
Reports said Shah had gone to the town, 55 km from here, to inaugurate the showroom of a business concern after which he entered a local restaurant. At 2.52 p.m. suspected militants appeared at the spot and fired several rounds at Shahs PSO, Mushtaq Ahmad Malla (belt No 504/G) son of Abdul Ahad of Ganderbal, hitting him in his abdomen and arm. He was rushed first to the SMHS hospital and then to the SK Institute of Medical Sciences, Soura, where his condition was stated to be serious.
Confirming the incident, police said a case had been registered and investigation launched. Meanwhile, police and paramilitary personnel cordoned off the area and conducted searches. No militant organization had owned the firing when the reports last came in.
