SRINAGAR – Cold wave conditions intensified yet again in the Kashmir valley and Ladakh region, where the weather remained dry during the past 24hours after snowfall on upper reaches.
A Met department spokespersons said the weather will remain dry in the Kashmir valley in the next 24 hours.
In Srinagar the people had some respite from the cold after the minimum temperature remained above normal for two days, witnessed yet another cold night.
Spokespersons said the minimum dropped to minus 0.2 degree against yesterdays 4.2 degree, more than three degree above normal.
Because the sky was clear, the temperature goes down, he added and said the lowest so far recorded in the city was minus 1.0 degree on November 16.
The ski resort of Gulmarg, which witnessed minus 6 degree minimum temperature yesterday, coldest so far, recorded 0.5 degree improvement. However, the icy cold winds continued to sweep the entire Gulmarg sector which received light to moderate snowfall recently.
At famed health resort of Pahalgam, the minimum dropped to minus 3.7 degree, 2.7 degree below normal.
Similarly in other parts of the valley, the minimum dropped below normal.
Kargil, border town on Srinagar-Leh national highway, witnessed coldest night of the season when the minimum dropped to minus 6 degree, a notch less than yesterday, which was earlier coldest. At Leh the minimum temperature was minus 9.6 degree, about three degree less than yesterday.
