Srinagar: AIP Supremo and MLA Langate today welcomed the resolution passed by committee on social and cultural affairs of United Nations calling right to self determination the fundamental right of people and condemning atrocities on those seeking genuine political rights.
According to AIP, Rasheed while interacting with people in Anantnag said all such efforts seeking peaceful resolution to political disputes by endorsing right to self determination is a right and appreciable move to make world peaceful, progressive and a place where everybody would enjoy his fundamental rights.
“If people are given right to self determination certainly it would ensure an end to all underground militant movements, as most of them are fighting for the political rights. May it be people of Palestine or Kashmir they don’t want to spread hatred nor create anarchy in their respective regions? The super powers and all other members of United Nations are bound by the UN Charter to ensure right to self determination to those who have been fighting against oppression. If people are given their genuine political rights, there is no reason that why masses in conflict zones will not respond to peace, as they are the worst sufferers and need peace more than those who preach peace but promote war,” he said.
He said the move needs to be carried forward and occupation forces all over the world need to be told that their hegemony can neither be tolerated forever nor will their dictatorial attitude help their own people.
He appealed world community to send fact finding teams to areas like Kashmir so that the masses and sufferers feel that world community has not forgotten them. (PTK)
