Srinagar: Acting tough against the burglars across the district, the Budgam police on Wednesday claimed to have arrested three burglars who have stolen properties worth lakhs in the district during last three months.
Police in a statement issued to KNS said that three persons identified as Umer Reshi, son of Asadullah Reshi, Reyaz Ahmad Dar, son of Gh Hassan Dar and Arshid Ahmad Dar, son of Bashir Ahmad Dar, all residents of Zuhama, Chadoora and one more suspect identified as Ishfaq Ahmad Hajam, son of Ab Qayoom, resident of Rangger Chadoora were arrested.
“During questioning all the accused persons confessed that they were responsible for the burglaries,” police said.
The statement reads that during the last 03 months, some burglary cases took place in Tehsil Chadoora of District Budgam where in burglars had stolen property worth lakhs of rupees and in this regard cases under FIR numbers 97/2016,120/2016 and 121/2016 under the relevant sections of law were registered in Police Station Chadoora.
In order to ensure a speedy and effective investigation into the matter, a special investigation team (SIT) under the supervision of SDPO Charar-i-Sharief was constituted.
During the course of investigation a number of suspects were rounded-up for questioning and ultimately the police was able to zero in upon 03 suspects namely Umer Reshi, Reyaz Ahmad Dar, Arshid Ahmad Dar all residents of Zuhama, Chadoora and one more suspect namely Ishfaq Ahmad Hajam.
The stolen property comprising of three bikes four LED’sone scanner, one inverter, one sound box, two setup boxes, three ATM batteries, three Laptops, three Digital Camera, one video camera, 30 mobile phone etc worth Rs.10,58000/- approximately was recovered.
