AWANTIPORA – Former Chief Information Commissioner of India and Chairman of National Commission for Minorities, Wajahat Habibullah Monday visited the Islamic University of Science and Technology.
Wajahat, who is on a visit to the valley, reviewed various facilities available at the IUST campus and held a detailed meeting with the Vice Chancellor, IUST, Prof. A R Trag and other university officials.
Trag presented an overview of the developmental and other important activities and facilities available at the campus.
Later on, Wajahat visited various departments and laboratories at the varsity campus and was given assessment and functioning of technical as well as non-technical facilities available here.
He visited the Food Technology Labs, FPTC Lab, Computer Labs, B.Tech Labs, Radio Studio Lab, Classrooms and the University Library.
He was also interviewed by the students of Journalism and Mass Communication at the Community Radio Studio about various facets of the RTI movement in Kashmir. The detailed interview will be aired on November 29 at 9:00 PM on Radio Kashmirs Commercial Broadcasting Service during its weekly Pesh Kadam programme.
Interacting with the IUST officials during a meeting, Wajahat praised the picturesque location of the IUST. He also suggested starting a Persian language course.
He expressed satisfaction over the progress made by IUST in the short span of time.
Others present at the meeting included Registrar, IUST, Prof. A. G. Rather, Dean School of Business Studies, Prof. A.R. Mattoo and Dean School of Technology, Prof. K.K.S. Jamwal.
