Srinagar: Kashmir police Tuesday arrested 14 people in connection with the burning down of schools during the ongoing unrest in Kashmir.
On Monday, the Jammu and Kashmir High Court had taken "suo moto cognisance" of the burning of schools and asked the IGP Kashmir to take preventive measures to ensure the security of the schools.
With the ongoing unrest, as many as 24 schools have been razed to the ground in south Kashmir. Most of these schools are run by the government.
There has been no normal class in any school in the valley in the last 115 days of turmoil that has left at least 94 persons dead and 15,000 injured during this unrest.
The state government vowed to have exams of all classes conducted by end November even if schools don't open by then. (PTK)
