Srinagar: Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti Tuesday sent out a stern message to the students that examinations will not be postponed and her government will conduct examinations for Class 10th and 12th at any cost in November next month.
“Either you appear in examination or boycott them, it bothers least to the government,” Mehbooba told a large group of students in Civil Secretariat lawn on Tuesday.
The students from different government and private schools including Delhi Public School, Tyndale Biscoe, Green Valley, Presentation Convent, New Convent under the banner of Jammu Kashmir Welfare Students Association (JKSWA) met Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti in Secretariat lawns. The students requested Chief Minister to postpone their examinations.
They argued that not a single student can qualify for JEE and NEET in case government conducts exams in November as according to them they have covered only 40 per syllabus.
“The Government is exploring various options in consultation with the Education Department, the State Board of School Education (BOSE) and other stakeholders to ensure you have more options and your academic year is not lost,” the Chief Minister told the students.
The Chief Minister said the examinations shall be held as per the already announced schedule. She, however, assured the students that the government will arrange special coaching classes to help them prepare for various competitive examinations like CET, NEET, JEE etc.
She said even during the prevailing disturbances, several examinations including competitive tests were conducted successfully and the students appeared in such exams overwhelmingly.
The Chief Minister also urged the parents to wholeheartedly support the endeavour of the government to safeguard the academic future of their wards.
The students were accompanied by their parents and some teachers from different schools who all requested Chief Minister to postpone the examinations.
An unrelenting Chief Minister, however, asked students to prepare themselves for the examination. “It’s not up to me. I can’t help you,” Mehbooba told the students before leaving the Secretariat premises.
