Srinagar: Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has approved the appointment of Parvez Ahmad as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the J&K Bank for a period of three years with effect from October 6, 2016. State government received the RBI affirmation in this regard on Friday.
Parvez Ahmad will be the first in-service and second in-house Chairman and CEO of the bank.
He is currently the senior most Executive President of the bank. Well-known in the banking circles, he commands respect both within the bank and outside.
Notably, J&K Bank Board of Directors had forwarded a panel of three candidates topped by Parvez Ahmad for chairmanship to the RBI for approval.
Born in 1964, Ahmad, having science background, joined the Bank as the company secretary in 1998 and is presently heading the business support division and corporate credit and customer care. After finishing his studies Ahmad completed the course of company secretary before joining the Bank, the only listed company in Jammu and Kashmir.
Ahmad, who has also served as Zonal Head Kashmir, is the member of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India and has been the honorary Chairman of Srinagar Chapter of NIRC of the ICSI.
Ahmad’s areas of expertise among others include advances and asset planning, commercial banking, investor relations, corporate finance, banking operations, capital market and financial services.
