Srinagar: Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK) today has made another appeal to doctors for free medical consultation at their private clinics.
In yet another appeal President DAK Dr Nisar ul Hassan has requested doctors to offer free medical consultation to patients at their clinics.
“It is unfortunate that some doctors are charging consultation fees from patients at their clinics in this hour of crisis. Many patients came to us complaining about this. It was quite disturbing and we were speechless,” he said.
The DAK said due to prolonged unrest in Kashmir, people are in a desperate financial hardship and they are not in a position to bear their medical expenses.
“Also, due to continued restrictions and clampdowns, most of the people can’t get to hospitals and they have no choice but to drop in at nearby clinics. There are many patients who go without appropriate care as they cannot afford fee for consultation,” it added.
The association said they are unable to take care of their health due to lack of money. “The financial condition of people is really bad and they cannot afford even basic needs of life like food and clothing. And, more painful is that they don’t reveal their sufferings and we don’t go to them,” said Dr Nisar.
He said they are passing through a difficult situation and we need to help each other in this testing time. “We need to learn to live together in this hour of need. We have to translate our words into actions,” he said.
