Anantnag: At least Five Para-military Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel were injured after suspected militants tossed a grenade over them in Wonpou area of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district.
Sources told news agency CNS that suspected militants targeted a patrolling party with a grenade that exploded with a bang creating panic in the area. “The attack left three CRPF men from 90 Battalion wounded who were immediately shifted to Sub-District hospital Anantnag,” an official told CNS.
The official identified the wounded personnel as Arun Kumar, Deepak Kumar and Amit Kumar. The official said that one of the wounded men Amit Kumar was referred to Srinagar for advanced treatment. IG CRPF who reached the spot shortly after the attack told reporters that assailants will be identified and nabbed.
Meanwhile militant outfit Hizbul Mujhadeen while claiming the responsibility of the attack said that at least one CRPF person was killed and five others sustained critical injuries.
Hizb Operational Spokesperson Burhanuddin told Kashmir based news agency CNS that some of the men from the organization lobbed a grenade on CRPF at Wonpou in which one security man was killed and five others were injured. He said that the attacks on Indian security men will continue till Kashmir issue is not resolved as per the wishes and aspirations of the people. (CNS)
