Srinagar: Miscreants on Friday evening thrashed two young boys after they found the photograph of a policeman in the purse of the one of the victims. The incident occurred at Natipora in the outskirts of capital city Srinagar.
The family members of the victims who hail from Kellar area of South Kashmir’s Shopian district said Touseef Ahmed Malik along with his cousin Owais Ahmed were on way towards Batamaloo when their Scooty was stopped by a group of miscreants near Natipora.
“Touseef was carrying the photograph of his brother Irfan Ahmed who is working in police department. They took him as a cop and started thrashing him. My brother was taken to a field and tied with a tree. The head of the group who also snatched two mobile phones from the victims hit the head of Touseef with bricks. He was badly wounded. After assaulting them physically the miscreants fled from the spot. My brother was untied from the tree by a local who handed him over to police,” Irshad Ahmed the brother of the victim said adding that the victim was on way towards Batamaloo to meet his father who is performing duties of Imam at a local mosque.
The family members said that despite knowing the culprits, they didn’t lodge any complaint or case against them in the police station, however, when CNS contacted Station House Officer Police Station Saddar, he said that efforts are on to nab the culprits.
