SRINAGAR:The dead body of drowned Palpora minor has been retrieved from river Jhelum at Kreshbal by locals on Friday.
Hundreds of people had started search for the missing body early today.
Identified as Danish Sultan Haroo, the 13-year-old school going was running when protestors were being chased by forces in Parimpora and Palpora area of Srinagar on Thursday evening.
Local eye witnesses said that four youths jumped in Jhelum near recently constructed steel foot bridge to save themselves from being caught by police.
“Three boys could swim and save themselves but Danish drowned in the Jhelum,” they said.
The death of Danish evoked intense pro-freedom protests and subsequently clashes erupted in the area last evening and dozens of locals were injured due to pellets.
Reports said that pro-freedom protests erupted early this morning and they still continue while this report is being filed.
