Srinagar: Though the curfew and restrictions continued on 47th straight day in Kashmir, inhabitants of various areas here have complained of facing acute shortage of essential commodities and baby food.
Notably, to thwart the possible protests against the civilian killings in Kashmir, the authorities continued to impose curfew and restrictions across the Valley.
The residents of several areas today complained of facing acute shortage of essential commodities and baby food.
Inhabitants of several areas of Srinagar city including Habba Kadal, Fateh Kadal, Khanyar, Eidgah, Nowhatta, Batamaloo and others said that they are not being allowed to purchase essential commodities especially baby food.
“In absence of baby food, infants are suffering badly,” they said.
They alleged that forces don’t allow shopkeepers in interiors to open their shops. “Besides forces, groups of youth also appear in the localities and force shopkeepers to close down their shops,” residents said.
Residents said that with such kind of happenings, they are facing immense hardships. “The authorities should allow us to purchase the essential commodities and baby food,” they said.
They later appealed state administration to look into the issue and redress their grievances at earliest. (KNS)
