PATTAN: People from scores of villages along Srinagar-Baramulla highway took to roads to protest continued detention of Hurriyat leader Maulana Masroor Abbas Ansari.
Masroor Abbas was arrested when he was leading a march to Eidgah on Thursday as per 'United Resistance Camp' programme.
People blocked Baramulla highway at Mirgund and Mirchmar Friday demanding release of Molvi Masroor who also heads Ittehadul Muslimeen.
Reports said soon after Friday prayers hundreds of people came out of mosques and Imam Bargah's and marched on the highway. Chanting pro-Azadi slogans they staged protests for several hours.
