SRINAGAR: In so far the most haunting portrayal of the havoc wrought by the indiscriminate use of the pellet guns in Kashmir Valley, the renowned artist Masood Hussain has drawn a set of powerful black and white images of the young boys with blank visionless eyes.

Hussain’s artistic representation of the distressing current state of affairs has followed shortly after a Pakistani artist took internet by storm with his morphed pictures of the celebrities with pellet-damaged eyes.

The celebrated Kashmiri painter’s images, however, graphically evoke the horror: An innocent boy with a white face and the dishevelled back hair stares at his beholders with glassy unseeing eyes. Another boy with a hand on his forehead has only skin in place of his one eye. And still another has gaping holes where his eyes should have been.
The images are a devastating comment on the prevailing situation in Valley. The tellingly expose the apathy of the government and the utter senselessness of the ongoing violence.
"I am pained by the little boys losing their sight. I wanted to express this pain,” Masood told Kashmir Observer.
