Srinagar: An 18 year old youth was killed and another injured in firing by paramilitary forces in Awantipur area of South Kashmir this afternoon.
Mushtaq Ahmad Bhat, was hit by a bullet when forces opened fire on a protest demonstration which broke out in the area this afternoon despite a curfew.
Eyewitnesses said Mushtaq died on way to SMHS Hospital in Srinagar.
Dr Nazir Ahmad Choudhry Medical Superintendent SMHS told Kashmir Observer that the youth who had a bullet wound in the abdomen as well as pellet injuries on the other body parts was brought dead to the hospital.
Meanwhile, reports reaching here said that two more youth were rushed to SMHS Srinagar in injured condition.
One of the youth has been hit by bullet in the head, sources said.
The sources said that another youth was hit by pellets and he too was shifted to SMHS. There identity was being ascertained.

Sources from the hospital administration said that the youth was admitted ten days ago but he lost battle of life last mid-night. He was administered many pints of blood.

Curfew and restrictions remain in force across Kashmir on 14th consecutive day in view of continuous shut down call by separatists and prevailing law and order situation.
Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Dr. Farooq Lone said that the curfew will continue in Srinagar.In view of separatists call to hold a peaceful protest after Friday congregational prayers, strict restriction on the movement and assembly of people will remain in force across the Kashmir valley.

Five Kashmiri students who allegedly raised anti-India slogans during an event held at the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) on February 9 have been asked by Delhi Police Special Cell to join the investigation in the case, said sources.
Two of the students are from JNU, two from Jamia Millia Islamia and one from Aligarh Muslim University, sources told The Indian Express.
