AMMU: Taking Umbrage at the statement of Union Home Minister Raj Nath Singh that Pakistan is NAPAK (filthy) in its dealings and that it is involved in the current unrest and violence related killings in Kashmir, a top National conference leader on Wednesday accused New Delhi of being behind the Kashmir mess.
Dr. Sheikh Mustafa Kamaal, Additional General Secretary of National Conference, reacting to Singh’s statement in the parliament on Tuesday, said in a statement that such allegations against a neighbouring country does not behove Home Minister of the largest democracy of the world.
“We know it and the world knows that it is New Delhi that is playing the dirty game in J&K from as far back as 1953 when Sheikh Mohammad Abdulllah as Prime Minister was summarily dismissed, tried on trumped up charges and externed for a total of over 16 years between 1953 and 1975 and other land-marks in this sordid game was the Hazratbal Holy relic theft of 1963; toppling of Sheikh Abdullah as Chief Minister in 1977; toppling of Dr. Farooq Abdullah in 1984 ; and forced resignation of Dr. Farooq Abdullah in Jan 1990.
Kamaal alleged that it were Mufti Sayeed, the then Union Home Minister and Jag Mohan, the then Governor, who instigated militancy of 1989-90 which continues till date, adding that, “New Delhi has a fair share of involvement and Pakistan as a helping hand because it has axe to grind in the Kashmir dispute”.
“GOI should clear the air by accepting the suggestion of National Conference, first made in the countrys Parliament by the then Member of Parliament Omar Abdullah to constitute a Truth and Reconciliation Commission, Kamaal demanded.
“National Conference would like the blame for the 27 years old insurgency in J&K to lie on the hands that are responsible for it and the nation and the world to know the truth and thus put an end to the blame game on all sides”, Kamaal, who is younger brother of NC patron Farooq Abdullah said.
Kamaal urged GOI to stop blood shed in J&K immediately if it really means well for the people. Side by side steps be taken to accept the oft repeated offer of Mr. Banki-moon, secretary General of the United Nations. Moon has been expressing anguish and concern and expressing willingness for mediation between India and Pakistan over the problem of Kashmir in the interest of world peace.
“Not giving even lip service to this offer GOI not only has shown utter lack of courtesy and correct diplomatic atiquette towards the head of UNO but to the august world body itself where the problem of J&K rests for last seven decades.”, NC leader said.
