SRINAGAR: One of the five policemen, who according to the police, suffered injuries in a grenade attack on police station at Yaripora in south Kashmirs Kulgam district, is stated to be in critical condition.
The locals, however, rejected the police version and said that the cops were wounded after the explosive material they were carrying went off , There was no firing at all, they said.
A police officer told local news agency GNS that a cop Mudassir Ahmad Shah (Belt No:619/KGM) sustained injuries in militant attack at yaripora in kulgam District is still critical at Armys 92 base Hospital in Srinagar.
Someone from the protesters hurled a grenade towards the police personnel during stone pelting on Police station Yaripora. The grenade attack was followed by firing also, Police said. He said at least five cops were injured in the attack.
Earlier, police had informed the cop succumbed to his injuries. Seven cops were wounded in the attack were airlifted in a chopper to 92 base Army hospital Srinagar. One of them later succumbed to his injuries, police said and identified the wounded cops as Farooq Ahmed, Khursheed Ahmed, Mushtaq Ahmed, Tariq Ahmed and Mushtaq Ahmed.
