Bunker Vehicle Pushed Into Jhelum, Cop Killed
SRINAGAR: A policeman was killed after protesters pushed a mobile bunker of JKP into River Jhelum near Sangam in Anantnag district on Sunday.
Government spokesperson, Naeem Akhtar, said, a crowd pushed the bunker vehicle into River Jhelum near Sangam in which a cop was killed.
The deceased has been identified as Afroz Ahmad.
Cop Escapes Lynching
In another incident, a policeman was thrashed by a group of protesters near Saloora Ganderbal. Some protesters even tried to snatch his service rifle. However the bid was foiled by his colleagues who immediately reached to the spot and fired tear smoke shells besides pellet gun fire to disperse protesters.
Soibugh Police Post Set Ablaze
The angry protestors set ablaze police post in Soibugh village in Budgam district.
The area was scene of protests and clashes since Saturday.
The Police post in the Soibugh has been set ablaze by youth, sources said, adding police and CRPF have fled the spot.
Residents said that forces present resorted to intense aerial firing but undeterred protests overran the post and set it on fire.
SDPOs House Set Ablaze
At Ashmuqam, a group of protesters attacked the residence of SDPO and latter set it on fire.
At Hassanpora Arwani area of Bijbehara, a group of youth attacked SOG camp and tried to set it on fire. Howeverquick reaction by forces prevented the building from gutting.
SOG Bunker Demolished
At Lolab in Kupwara a group of protesters demolished a bunker of SOG Camp at Takipora. Cops on the duty opened aerial fire and dispersed the protesters.
Cop Shot At In Tral
A policeman was injured after he was shot at by unknown gunmen at Tral in Pulwama on Sunday.
A police official said that Abdul Gani, a constable, posted at Police Station Saddar who was on leave was fired upon by unknown gunman outside his residence Laam village of Tral.
In firing incident Gani sustained injury in his leg and was immediately shifted to hospital, the official said.
