SRINAGAR: Employees Joint Action Committee has asked the government to release the salaries of the employees before Eid-ul-Fiter, else they will take to streets.
While presiding a high level meeting here, EJAC president, Abdul Qayoom Wani said the employees showed their strong resentment and protest for non-payment of salaries to employees working under various schemes like NPS, SSA, RMSA, SBM, NHM and non-payment of salaries to temporary employees working in various departments.
Wani said that to stop the earned and legitimate salaries of employees is a gross violation of employees rights and the people at the helm of affairs are responsible for putting thousands of employees and their families in starvation and mental trauma.
Wani said that employees working under various centrally sponsored schemes and NPS scheme are the worst hit by official apathy and without salaries for months together besides all temporary employees, casual labours, daily-wagers, seasonal employees and contingent paid employees.
He said that keeping in view the festival of Eid-ul-fiter, Government should take necessary steps on war footing for release of pending salaries of employees, otherwise the employees have no option to come on roads and government will have to face the brunt of employees.
Wani said that non-seriousness and anti-employees attitude of officers at that helm of affairs is responsible for putting the employees in trouble.
Wani appealed the Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti for her personal intervention so that the employees may get their earned and legitimate salaries before Eid-ul-fiter.
