SRINAGAR: The employees working under National Health Mission (NHM) Thursday staged protest against the government for failing to regularize them from past nine years.
At least 500 NHM employees including men and women assembled at Srinagars press enclave and were chanting slogans like we want justice.
The NHM employees who were holding banners displaying their demands were also joined by Employees Joint Action Committee (EJAC) president, Abdul Qayoom Wani and other senior forum members.
The employees told KNS that they are working in the department from past nine years but the successive regimes so far failed to regularize them. We are at least 12000 in number but the authorities ignored the employees who served the department from past nine years, they said.
They said that despite working with dedication, they have been neglected as not even a single person has been regularized from past nine years. Regularizing us is our right and the government should fulfill them at earliest, they said.
Meanwhile, the employees tried to march towards the city centre Lal Chowk but police didnt allow them to march.
The employees were pushed back towards press enclave who later dispersed peacefully. (KNS)
