Srinagar: Kashmir University Vice Chancellor Prof Khurshid Iqbal Andrabi on Wednesday inaugurated ‘Payaam-e-Ramadan Festival’ in the campus.
The four-day programme has been organized by Division of Youth Affairs of KU’s Department of Students Welfare in collaboration with the Impressions Event Management Company. The programme includes Naat Khawnii, Husn-i-Qirat, Azaan Competition, Calligraphy and Islamic quiz competitions. Around 300 students from various schools, colleges, universities and other institutions have already registered for the competition.
In his address, Prof Andrabi said such events wont be restricted to only Ramadan but held throughout the year. He said the teachings of the Holy Quran are the divine light that can lead the entire humanity out of all social challenges.
In his welcome address, Dean Students Welfare, Prof. Fayaz Ahmad said these events refresh our souls and enlighten the minds. Besides others, Maulana Adnan also spoke on the occasion.
Shahid Ali Khan, Cultural Officer thanked the guests, participants, adjudicators and Impression Events Management Company for their support.
The festival will conclude on 25th June 2016 with the valedictory-cum-prize distribution function.
