Srinagar: – Contradicting his own government on new Industrial policy, ruling BJP minister for Industries and Commerce Chander Prakash Ganga Wednesday the policy has been implemented by the government.
Winding up the discussion and voting for allotment of grants for Industries and Commerce department, Ganga said the new industrial policy has been implemented by the government on Mar 15, 2016
Ganga said that the policy was made according to the Land Grant Act of the state.
However, the minister was cornered by the Opposition NC lawmaker, Ali Muhammad Sagar, who has brought a Cut Motion about the industrial policy.
The opposition member said that the minister is contradicting his chief minister, finance minister and government spokesman.
Sagar said that the government was misleading the House by issuing different statements over New Industrial Policy.
Naeem Sahab has said that the government has put the new Industrial Policy on hold while as you are saying that it is being implemented, he said.
Sagar said that the government has not taken anyone on board and had implemented this policy secretly.
Under the garb of Private-Public-Partnership your government is going to give land to non-locals here which is direct interference with the special character of the state, he said.
Ganga while replying made it clear that the New Industrial policy was not put on hold, but implemented.
Naeem sahab didnt say that the New Industrial policy will be put on hold. He has said that the government will revisit this policy, he said.
Naeem Sahab was satisfied with the policy after I told him that it was framed according to Land Grant Act. And then the policy was implemented, the minister said.
Ganga further said that his government was not harming Article 370 by implementing New Industrial Policy in the state. Dont make it an issue, he said.
Later, Speaker Kavinder Gupta asked Sagar whether he will take back his Cut Motion. No I will press for it, Sagar replied. The Cut Motion was later dismissed after ruling lawmakers opposed it during voting.
The new industrial policy has created furore in the state as both mainstream NC and separatists have opposed it, claiming it will special status of the state.
Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti, had in last week said that there was no threat to J&Ks special status by the new industrial policy which, she said, would be kept for review to remove misconception.
Govenrment spokesman and minister for education Naeem Akhtar too has said that the policy will be revisited.
The New Industrial Policy, announced drafted and announced during the Governor N N Vohras rule early this year, would open gates for non-State subjects to get on lease land in the state for setting up industries outside the industrial estates in the state
