SRINAGAR: Razwan Royals, Al-Muqeet XI and Syed Hyderpora advanced into the next round after winning their respective fixtures in Budgam Premier League played at Sheikhpora Playground on Thursday.
Mohammad Amirs all-round brilliance made sure Razwan Royals beat YMCC Wanbal quite comfortably in the first game of the day. Batting first YMCC Wanbal posted a decent 144 for the loss of six wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Amir was the pick of the bowlers taking three wickets.
Amir then batted well making a match winning 26 to help his side scale down the target in the 19th over. He was declared man of the match.
Thanks to a 40-ball 53 from Irfan Ahmad, Al-Muqeet XI overpowered Tengpora in what turned out to be a one-sided affair. Batting first Al-Muqeet amassed 174 for the loss of five wickets in the allotted 20 overs with Irfan the main contributor.
Al-Muqeet XI showed quality with the ball to restrict Tengpora to 153 for the loss of five wickets, winning the game by 21 runs.
Irfan was declared man of the match for his match winning knock.
Kamran Ahmad was the star of the show as Syed Hyderpora thumped Katwara XI by 76 runs in the last fixture of the game.
Syed Hyderpora amassed a mammoth 187 for the loss of seven wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. Kamran was one of the substantial scorers making a solid 37.
It was his bowling though that decided the game as he ripped through Katwara XI batting lineup to shot them out for a paltry 110 inside 19 overs to fashion a big victory for his side. He took four wickets and was unsurprisingly given the man of the match award.
The tournament has been a regular fixture in Budgams sports calendar with fans and players showing great interest in it.
