SRINAGAR: All-rounder Abid Bashir played a great role as Zahoor Cricket Club (ZCC) beat Zain-ul-Abidin Cricket Club Srigufwara by a one wicket in what was a last-over finish in the league phase of Late GM Gilkar Memorial T-20 Cricket tournament played at Boys Higher Secondary School Bijbehara on Thursday.
Abid was star with bat and ball with his side managing to scale down the target of 147 in the last over with just one wicket in hand.
In what was a nail biting finish ZCC held their nerve in the chase largely due to Adil who played a sensible knock scoring run a ball 25 to hold the sinking fort together. ZCC chase got off to a solid start but collapse in the middle overs meant a rearguard which was provided by Adil.
Earlier Adil was a mainstay with the ball claiming three wickets to restrict Zain-ul-Abidin Cricket Club Srigufwara to 146. He was duly given the man of the match award. Batting first Zain-ul-Abidin Cricket Club put a decent total of 146 on the board. Saqlain Najar was the successful batsman scoring 37 off 19 balls.
In the second match of the day, Sabit Ahmads belligerent knock of 75 off just 32 deliveries powered Nigeen Cricket Club to register a 17-victory over Star Sports Mattan.
Batting first NCC set a target of 184 on the board thanks to middle order batsman Sabit Ahmad 75 and Shahid Hassans 78.
In reply Star Sports Mattan were restricted to 167 losing the match by 17 runs. Sabit for his belligerent knock was adjudged man of the match.
The tournament is organized by Bijbehara Cricket Organisation.
