Srinagar: The State Vigilance Commission (SVC) has directed Secretary Jammu Development Authority to appear in person before the Commission on 19 May this month, along with the relevant records and information, sought for examining the alleged malpractices and irregularities committed in the organization in various cases during past several years.
The Commission has received a complaint in which the complainant has alleged that the former Vice Chairmen and certain senior officials of the Authority have misused their official position and caused huge loss to Government Exchequer for their own benefits. Purchasing of machinery without inviting tenders, violation of norms prescribed for regularization of plots, construction of hotel and banquet hall on prime state land by private parties are among other allegations mentioned in the complaint.
Earlier, the Commission had examined the allegations levelled against the Vice Chairmen and other officials of the Authority and directed the JDA to furnish relevant records and information to the Commission.
The report submitted by JDA prima facie revealed series of omissions and commissions on part of the officials of JDA including changing allotment of plots from one colony to another without charging differential amount and non cancellation of illegal allotments resulting thereby in huge loss to Jammu Development Authority.
