Geelani urges Pandits to oppose townships

SRINAGAR: Hurriyat (G) chairman Syed Ali Geelani on Monday made a patient and humble appeal to the Pandit community to oppose the proposed composite townships in Kashmir valley.
They (Pandits) should not support the any such proposal or plan which will cut off them from the rest of the society and which will harm the brotherhood of the Kashmiri nation, said Geelani, in a statement issued here today.
He also rejected the new Industrial Policy, which he said, was an attempt to weaken the special status of the Kashmir in every possible way.
This country wants to settle the non-state subjects in the Jammu & Kashmir on different names and schemes and want to snatch the livelihood of the Kashmiri traders and businessmen. For this purpose the RSS backed government had formulated a new industrial policy which will open the doors for the Indian industrialists in the state, said Geelani.
He also termed the announcement of the new medical colleges in the state as Lollipop.
These colleges will admit non-local students and their condition will be like the engineering college NIT Srinagar, said Geelani.
We will not let the RSS and the Sang Parivar to succeed in their evil designs in Kashmir and the Kashmiri people will resist them in every possible ways, warned the octogenarian leader.
