Anantnag: Authorities at Government Higher Secondary School Gohan Vailoo Kokarnag in South Kashmir are forcing students to buy pamphlets and those who dont oblige are not given examination forms, parents alleged.
A group of parents told CNS that teaching faculty does not accept the examination forms of class 12th students who refuse to buy a pamphlet costing Rs 60. My son who wanted to appear in 12 class annual examination was not given examination form as he refused to purchase the pamphlet. We fail to understand who has produced this pamphlet and why students are forced to pay for it. Most of the students are from Gujjar community who cant afford to pay Rs 60, said Ghulam Muhammad.
Parents said that this kind of practice is common in private educational institutions but now government institutions have also started minting money from the poor students.
Principal Government Higher Secondary School Gohan Vailoo Kokarnag Muhammad Shafi Khaki feigned ignorance about the issue stating that they have not published any pamphlet for sale. When asked the pamphlet carries his photograph, the Principal said he will look into the matter.
