SRINAGAR: To Promote the Vegetable cultivation in Kitchen Gardens Director Agriculture Kashmir Showket Ahmad Beigh today inaugurated the sale of Vegetable Seedling at Kitchen Garden Lalmandi Srinagar.
Seed Production officer, Research Assistant Kitchen Garden, other Senior Officers of the department and a large number of Kitchen Garden holders of Srinagar were also present on the occasion.
Brinjal, Chillies, Capsicum, Knolkhol, Cucurbits and other vegetable seedling both Hybrid as well as open pollinated were distributed among the kitchen garden holders on subsidized rates.
While interacting with kitchen garden holders Director Agriculture Kashmir said that in kitchen garden Lalmandi the vegetable seedlings of various vegetables are raised under controlled as well as open conditions on modern and scientific basis and high yielding varieties, of both exotic and indigenous vegetables is being distributed among the growers, in a view to give the readily available high quality seedling to increase the production of vegetables.
On this occasion Director Agriculture was informed that the revenue amounting to Rs 7.62 lakhs have been generated during the year 2015-2016 under the scheme.
