Srinagar: Government on Monday terminated the services of Public Prosecutor and Additional Public Prosecutor in Udhampur and Kathua districts on the basis of their non-performance, Jammu Kashmir Law Minister Abdul Haq Khan Monday informed.
The performance of Public Prosecutor Udhampur Naresh Kumar Bhagat and Additional Public Prosecutor Kathua Sunil Singh was not up to the mark. They even didnt bother to attend the official meetings, Haq said.
Meanwhile, a top official from Law Ministry on condition of anonymity said that the services of Public Prosecutor Udhampur was terminated for being lackadaisical in pursuing the criminal case against the zealots who had attacked and killed Kashmiri truck driver Zahid in Udhampur last year.
Government had received reports of Mr Bhagat’s being “soft” towards the accused during the prosecution that led to shifting of this case to a different trial court in Jammu.
Meanwhile, the government has appointed Advocate Rakesh Sharma as Public Prosecutor Kathua
