ANANTNAG: For the smooth conduct of Shri AmarnathJi Yatra-2016, District Development Commissioner Anantnag, Dr. Syed Abid Rasheed today reviewed the preparations and the action taken on the High Level Meeting decisions for the Shri Amarnathji Yatra, 2016.
The meeting was attended by ADDC Anantnag, ASP Anantnag, SDM Pahalgam and Dooru, CMO Anantnag, Conservator Forests, SE R&B, SE PHE, Exens of I&FC and PDD, Chief Animal Husbandry Officer, ARTO, besides officers of Tourism, and other related departments.
Threadbare discussions were held for proper and smooth conduct of annual Yatra. It was given out that the Yatra shall commence from July and around 7500 Yatris are expected to visit per day.
Regarding the Joint Control Room, SDM Pahalgam was directed to identify feasible spot for this purpose.
It was exhorted upon the telecom authorities to ensure that proper connectivity around the Pahalgam-Holy Cave route. The Tourism and R&B departments were asked to ensure proper accommodation at temporary transit camps at Walnut Factory and Mirbazar. Besides, PHE, PDD and PDA were directed to ensure the facilitation of safe and adequate water supply, uninterrupted power supply with a proper back-up, and other related facilities. In addition, the registration of ponies, laborers, accommodation, Medicare facilities, transport facilities, ration supplies, sanitation and cleanliness, establishment of control rooms at all halting stations and ATM facilities were reviewed.
The DDC stressed upon the concerned officers/agencies for making all arrangements in advance besides dumping of essential commodities, firewood and other Yatra related machines at identified spots. He directed PDA and R&B to start the works on various routes as soon as possible so that Yatra 2016 gets underway smoothly on proposed time. Besides he directed PDD to ensure inflatable lights at all camps.
Regarding the supply of safe and adequate drinking water to pilgrims, Exen PHE assured that underground pipes at Pissu Top, Zojpal and various locations shall be laid well before the commencement of Yatra. PDD assured that uninterrupted power supply shall be ensured. Besides, high powered gensets and inflatable lights have been procured as a back-up.
CMO Anantnag informed the meeting that adequate staff and medicine are already available and proper arrangements have been put in place along with mortuary and postmortem facilities.
With respect to registration of service providers and ponies, it was decided that the registration of service providers shall be started from 01 May, 2016.
Regarding the fixation of rates of transportation, cooperative stores, concerned departments have been directed to fix the proper rates.
Regarding the upgradation of Baltal-Holy Cave route, it was given out that upgradation of 12 feet wide has already been made except few spots where environmental clearance from Forest Department has been made. Besides, the R&B Department was asked to construct an impregnable gate after Chandanwari.
