Srinagar: Founder leader of Kashmiri resistance, ideologue and supreme leader of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation front (JKLF), Amanullah Khan was Thursday laid to rest at Eidgah Gilgit in presence of thousands of people with wet eyes.
Khans corpse was taken to Gilgit in a rally from Rawalpindi wherein thousands of his admirers participated.
A spokesman of JKLF said that thousands of people with eyes wet accompanied the Chief Minister Hafiz Hafizur Rehman and other dignitaries of Gilgit, Sardar Ateek Khan (Ex- Prime Minister of AK), Inayatullah Gilgiti (chairman Gilgit Baltistan national Alliance), Mushtaq Ahmad (Ameer Jamat I islami, ) to participate in funeral prayers.
JKLF leaders Haq Nawaz, Aabid Gilgiti, Doctor Toqeer, Rafiq Ahmad Dar and Muhammad Saleem Haroon were also present on the occasion.
Meanwhile news of funeral prayers in absentia and other condolence meetings for the deceased leader are coming in from various parts of the world.
In Birmingham London Kashmiris in large numbers offered funeral prayers in absentia and held a condolence meeting. Funeral prayers were also held at Karachi press club also in which Kashmiris in large numbers participated and prayed for the departed soul. Same programs were held in Saudi Arabiya, UAE and many cities of Pakistan including Lahore, and Islamabad.
Condolence meetings were also held at many cities of Azad Kashmir including Muzafarabad, Rawlakot, Chikoti, Bagh, Mirpor etc. at Kashmir University, Islamic university and central university students held condolence meetings in which late leader and ideologue was remembered with honour.
People from all walks of life today visited JKLF office at Abi Guzar and expressed condolences with JKLF. Political leaders, social activists, students and people from other walks of life were among those who came to JKLF office, spokesman said.
Among those who visited JKLF office included NF chief Nayeem Ahmad Khan, APDP chief Parveena Ahanagar, Moulana Reyaz Ahmad Shah (brother of Shaheed Showkat Ahmad Shah), Abdul Rashid of mass movement, President chamber of commerce Mushtaq Ahmad and general secretary Faiz Bakhshi, delegations from traders, students of universities and colleges etc.
A congregational condolence meeting will be held at JKLF office Abi Guzar on 30th April 2016, Saturday in which tributes will be paid to the deceased leader. The meeting will start at 10:30 pm and will be concluded after Salat ul Asr.
Authorities had clamped down JKLFs absentia prayers of the departed leader on Wednesday and arrested many some senior outfit members including Bashir Ahmad Rather (Boya), Muhammad Ishaaq Ganaiee, Nazir Ahmd Rather, Nazir Ahmad Raina .
