Jammu: President B.J.Y.M. KARGIL Mohd Hassan Pasha raised the long pending issue of lifting the Ban on Export of Apricot outside Kargil with the Minister for Cooperatives Chering Dorjay, at Civil Secretariat Jammu.
Terming it unfortunate Mohammad Hassan Pasha told that the Apricot export has been banned in 1974 under J&K Pest and disease act.
He also representing the Fruits Growers of Kargil told that there is a cooperative Society called Fruit Growers and Processing and Marketing Society Kargil is processing various Apricot byproducts like Dry Apricot, Apricot oil, Apricot pulp, Apricot jam/ Juice and Beverages etc but despite of doing all these every year about 4000 Tones of biter Apricot is going waste which should be tapped and all these products should be Marketed with experts help from the Department.
Other issues which he demanded includes, Financial assistance required for Marketing of Fertilizer, Chering Dorjey assured Hassan Pasha that every possible help will be provided to resolve the issues and fulfill the demands and he also told that Government is introducing new schemes and also launching awareness programs in Kargil for the benefits of large number of newly registered societies.
