Srinagar: In north Kashmirs Baramulla massive weight variations and sub-standard rice has been found in various godowns of the district.
According to sources, an inspection team of FCI conducted the inspection in January this year and found variations in weight of ration which was sent from Punjab. Subsequently, three trucks with sub-standard rice were seized.
According to the inspection note, Area Manager Srinagar visited PEG Baramulla in January and February and found huge variations in average per bag weight.
Accordingly, the entries also mismatch with the receipt and stack wise register. On some days the difference shoots upto around 600- bags.
Many challan Numbers also seem fictitious with duplicate stamp and wrong register numbers at Lower-Munda toll plaza, sources revealed, adding, the stock was also found in uncountable position.
The discrepancies and other such related stuff is very prone at weigh bridges and toll plazas as most of these checking centers lack computerized system to record the data and stock.
When contacted Director CAPD Kashmir Mushtaq Ahmad said they have nothing to do with it. It is FCI that dumps ration at PEG. We collect ration from there and dispatch it to ration depots. (PTK)
