Srinagar: A BSF man has allegedly killed his wife using his service rifle in central Kashmirs Ganderbal district on Monday, triggering protests in the area.
Police sources said Ghulam Hassan Chouhan, 40, who is a BSF constable of 193 bunker allegedly killed his wife on Monday morning at their home in Sutrun Kangan of Ganderbal district over some family dispute.
Sources said Ghulam Hassan, a BSF constable has posting in Rajasthan and was on leave to his home.
The relatives of the woman, who was found dead at her home, held massive protest demonstration in Kangan area demanding probe into her death and strict action against the culprit.
Later the SDPO Kangan pacified the family members and took them to police station. The postmortem of the deceased was conducted at Kangan hospital. The family refused to bury her there and took the body to Gulatibagh and then buried her body there.
Police has registered a case 31/2016 under section 302 RPC and recovered a rifle from the crime scene, a police official said. He said the deceased woman has got a bullet injury on chest caused most probably by a 12 bore riffle.
