Srinagar: Fresh snowfall in the ski resort of Gulmarg today marked the spring carnival organised by tourism department as part of its efforts to increase the footfall of the tourists to the valley.
The snowfall added beauty to the carnival at the famous resort, 50km from the summer capital Srinagar, with a large number of tourists, including Bollywood actor Imran Khan, enjoying the snow flakes.
In the carnival, Gulmarg is bustling with the activities which include race of Anti Terrain Vehicle, and Ponywallas in the main bowl.
At Kangdoori, the race was organized for snow scooters and skiing and sledges, an official spokesman said.
All the activities happened amid snowfall and the tourists present on the occasion appreciated the efforts of the tourism department to organize such events.
Imran Khan, who arrived in Kashmir from Mumbai yesterday, was mesmerized by the Valley?s pleasant weather.
He said people are struggling in Mumbai and other cities with soaring temperature of 40 degree Celsius but in Kashmir it is snowing. “I feel every Indian should make it a point to visit Kashmir and enjoy its beauty. The weather is so pleasant that one would want to stay here forever,” Khan said.
Director, Tourism Kashmir, Mehmood Shah said the carnival is part of their programme to engage visitors in such activities.
“We will organize more activities in the coming season so that tourists enjoy their stay here and also get to see different tourism products we have to offer?
