Anantnag: Hundreds of PDP workers in Kokernag continue to protest demanding inclusion of Mr Abdul Rahim Rather in the Cabinet. The new governments decision to drop Mr Rather from the list of cabinet ministers has come as a rude shock to hundreds of PDP workers from Kokernag Constituency.
The Workers told Kashmir observer that Ex Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed has promised thepeople of Breng constituency that Mr Rather would be included in the cabinet but the new government led by Ms Mehbooba Mufti, has out rightly ignored the wishes of the people who voted for her in the Parliament elections.
They further said that Kokernag assembly seat was won by Mr Rather in 2014 elections by a margin of over 4700 votes defeating his rival Peerzada Mohammad Sayeed, who was a three time cabinet Minister and Pradesh congress chief of Jammu and Kashmir. Mr Rather increased the vote bank of the party from mere 9000 votes in 2008 to over 25000 votes in 2014 assembly elections, which isthe second highest lead in South Kashmir after the Anantnag Assembly seat, won by Ex CM Mufti Mohammad Sayeed.
He also managed a lead of about ten thousand votes from Kokernag only, in the parliament elections of 2014, they said. The workers requestedMs Mehbooba Mufti to stand by her partys promise and meet the genuine demand of the people of Kokernag.
