Srinagar: At least 39 people including 27 militants, five civilians and seven security forces personnel have been killed in different militancy related incidents in the first three months of the current year.
Eight people including 7 militants and a civilian were killed in January. February was the bloodiest month with 23 people including 13 militants, 5 Indian Army soldiers, 2 CRPF personnel and 3 civilians killed.
In March total number of deaths reported were 9 including 8 militants and a civilian.
Among the 25 militants killed so far, 9 were foreigners while 18 of them were locals.
Suspected militants lobbed five grenades on security establishments in these three months. These grenades were lobbed at Mominabad Anantnag, Arwani Bijbehara, Hafiz Bagh Soura, Pulwama and outside Bijbehara police station. Besides a natural land mine explosion in Keran injuredtwo army potters and three civilians were injured after a littered shell went off in Hajin Bandipora post encounter.
