Srinagar :Limited stop trains will be introduced in Kashmir from next month to meet the heavy rush of passengers especially during peak hours.
“The limited stop trains will be flagged off in April,” an officials spokesperson said today.
A meeting chaired by Divisional Commissioner, Asgar Hassan Samoon and attended by Chief Area Manager, northern Railway, and Superintendent of Police (SP) Railways among others was convened yesterday to review the functioning of train services in the Valley, the spokesman said.
Additional 26 bogies and six engines have been received which would start functioning soon, railway officials said.
The railway officials stressed on the need for increasing frequency of trains during peak morning and evening hours and enhancing seat reservation in the trains for women.
Samoon stressed for better coordination between Railway and Police authorities for prior information regarding cancellation of trains.
He also emphasised on measures to be taken for transparency in issuing train tickets, wide publicity regarding train timings, installation of additional CCTVs besides adequate security arrangements at Railway stations, the spokesman said.
