BARAMULLA: Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Dr. Asgar Hassan Samoon today reviewed the performance of different sectors during a meeting held at Dak Bungalow Baramulla. The District Development Commissioner, Yasha Mudgal, besides Additional Deputy Commissioner, Joint Director Planning, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Engineers and district and Sectoral officers attended the meeting.
Divisional Commissioner reviewed the status of various issues regarding execution of various developmental projects including decongestion of Old town Baramulla on fast track basis, construction work of Jatti bridge and restoration of SRTC bridge, work of Trauma Hospital Pattan, Four-lanning of Narbal-Baramulla Highway, restoration of street lights in Baramulla and Sopore towns, besides implementation of Sanitation drive.
The meeting also reviewed pace of removal of encroachments form Khacharai and State lands. It was given out that a total of 190 Kanals of Khacharai and State land has been evacuated during the month of February across district Baramulla.
The Divisional Commissioner impressed upon the Revenue Officers to speed up the process of removal of encroachments by fixing weekly and monthly targets in this regard.
While reviewing the progress of health sector, the availability of Medical and Paramedical staff was comprehensively taken into account. The CMO was directed to ensure functioning of the Trauma Hospital at Pattan.
Meanwhile, it was impressed upon the Handicrafts Development Officer to start skill development courses and training camps for the artisans. The officer was directed to take measures for development of Handicrafts sector in the district.
Sample testing for pesticides and insecticides was also discussed during the review of Horticulture and Agriculture sectors. The Officers of Horticulture, Agriculture and Fisheries departments were impressed upon to ensure proper marketing strategies, so that employment opportunities are created besides enhanced production. Establishment of reeling units under Sericulture Sector in the district was also mentioned.
Earlier, Dr. Asgar Hassan Samoon inaugurated Plantation drive at Boys Degree College Baramulla. He also inaugurated DC Cup Football Tournament at Showkat Ali Stadium Baramulla.
As many as 20 senior division teams will take part in the tournament. The inaugural match was played between Elites Blues and Sober United.
