Srinagar: Peoples Democratic Party President Mehbooba Mufti Saturday visited the Gujjar families in Sarore area in Samba district, and expressed her sympathy with them.
Mehbooba was accompanied by other PDP leaders including former minister Choudhary Zulfikar.
Mehbooba ji visited the families in Sarore today. She said that the eviction of the people should not be selective but inclusive for all, Zulfikar said. Nomads should not face any harassment from the state. She insisted that the state should frame a settlement policy for the nomads.
On February 23, Mohammad Yaqoob was killed in police firing in Sarore in Samba district after some miscreants set ablaze Gujjar hutments and some residential houses. The Gujjar leaders had demanded judicial probe into the whole affair.
