Srinagar: A cop who had decamped with four AK-47 rifles in January this year was apprehended by government forces in Kulgam district of south Kashmir on Thursday.
According to a police officer, the deserter cop, Shakoor Ahmad Parray, who was PSO of SDPO Bijbehera, was apprehended by a joint team of police and army at Vill Avhotu in Kulgam district. Shakoor was the PSO of DySp Irshad Rather and had deserted with four AK 47 rifles. Three more youths had also fled with him but they have been already arrested.
The officer said that a pistol and two grenades have been recovered from the possession of the arrested deserter and claimed that he was associated with Lashkar-e-Toiba.
