KATHUA, MARCH 2 – Horticulture Department organized one-day training programme on Improved Practices for Horticultural Crops under Sub-Mission for Agriculture Extension (SMAE) – Mission for Agriculture Extension and Technology (ATMA) today.
More than two hundred farmers and fruit growers from Kathua, Barnoti and Hiranagar blocks participated in the programme.
While addressing the farmers, Chief Horticulture Officer Tarvinder Singh advised the farmers to learn and adopt the latest scientific techniques regarding cultivation of fruit crops so as to get optimum quality production and earn maximum benefits from their fruit orchards.
Project Coordinator Krishi Vigyaan Kendra (Kathua), SKUAST Jammu, Dr. Amrish Vaid briefed the participants about the different insect, pests and diseases of fruit crops and their control measures.
District Horticulture Officer, Surinder Kumar Shair, DLSMS (Pomology), Kathua Jyoti Prasad, concerned officers, sapranches and panches were also present on the occasion.
Experts impressed upon the farmers to adopt the cultivation of cash crops like strawberry as it has immense potential in the area.
