Doda: A senior KAS officer Mr Kalyan Singh Parihar, presently posted as Additional Secretary R&B today died in a tragic road accident when the car in which he was travelling along with three other members of his family skidded off the road near petrol pump Khellani on Batote Doda, NH.
He was travelling with his wife Anita Devi, Aunt Uma Devi and brother-in-law Vinkal Kumar when the tragedy stuck. His wife and Aunt also died in the accident whereas his brother-in-law received grave injuries and was airlifted to GMC Jammu.
He was travelling to his native village Jodhpur to attend the funeral of his father who died last night. Passersby immediately rushed the occupants of the car to District Hospital Doda where except Vinkal Kumar all were declared brought dead.

Kalyan Singh was senior KAS Officer of 2001 batch and he was serving as Additional Secretary R&B. He died in a swift car accident at Khilani Doda. His wife also among the dead. His father died yesterday and was on way to home at Doda for his cremation when the tragedy struck.
Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali expressed shock over the tragedic accident and condoled the same demise of this KAS officer. He prayed almighty to give peace to the departed soul.
Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali said that state lost a responsible and dedicated officer who have worked in the state in various capacities and served the people for which he will be remembered forever.
Former Education Minister and senior leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Naeem Akthar, expressed his grief and shock on the sad demise of KAS Officer, Kalyan Singh and his family members, who lost their lives in a tragic road accident at Kehlani near Doda this morning.
Expressing his sorrow over the tragic accident, which claimed lives of a brilliant KAS officer and his family members, Naeem Akthar said that death of Kalyan Singh was great loss to the State. He further added Kalyan Singh, a senior KAS officer of 2001, was an honest and capable officer fully dedicated towards causes of general public especially poor masses. I am deeply shocked and saddened to know about the death of Kalyan Singh and his other family members, Akthar said in his message.
Naeem Akthar expressed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and prayed for the eternal peace of the departed souls and grant of courage to the bereaved families to bear the irreparable loss.
A condolence meeting was held at Civil Secretariat here this afternoon in which Chief Secretary, Administrative Secretaries, KAS Officers Association, senior officers and secretariat employees expressed shock and grief over the tragic accident in which three other family members of the KAS officer also died.
The participants observed two minute silence to pay homage to the departed souls. Chief Secretary along with the participants expressed sympathies with the bereaved family members and relatives of the KAS officer and prayed for peace to the departed souls.
A condolence meeting was also held in the office chambers of Mr Rohit Kansal, Commissioner/Secretary PW(R&B)/PHE Department today which was attended by Special Secretary PW(R&B) Majid K A Drabu, Tariq Ahmad, Director Planning PW(R&B), Chief Engineers PW(R&B) Department, MD JKPCC, Mohammad Rafiq, Additional Secretary PHE, P R Katoch, Additional Secretary PHE, Rajesh Talwar, Director Finance PW(R&B) and others officers/officials of PW(R&B) and PHE Departments, wherein two minutes silence was observed as a mark of respect for the departed soul.
Remembering Mr Singh as a hardworking, helpful and dedicated officer with positive influence on his colleagues and subordinates, the officers expressed deep grief and sorrow over his tragic and untimely death and conveyed deep sympathies with the bereaved family and prayed for peace to the departed soul.
